About
From locals, for locals
Citizen Nantes is an independent guide to the city on the Loire — written by people who actually live here, for people who want the real place rather than the brochure.
We're a city magazine and guide, not an institution. We cover the neighbourhoods, the work and the life, the culture, and the food and drink the way you'd tell a friend who just arrived: the good bakery first, the museum later, the river always. Proud of the city, honest about it.
What we are — and aren't
We write about Nantes as a living city, not a news feed. Nothing here is year-stamped and nothing expires. Real places, institutions and events are covered in the third person — we're enthusiasts and neighbours, never spokespeople.
We are not the Mairie de Nantes, Nantes Métropole, or the official tourist office, and we're not affiliated with any of them. When we send you somewhere, it's because we'd go ourselves.
How to read us
Start with the city as an artwork for the big story, or use Which Nantes is yours? to enter by whatever brought you here — the art, the river, the work, the food, a night out, or a first weekend. Everything connects; follow the links and wander.
Found something we got wrong, or something we should cover? Tell us — we'd genuinely like to know.
